FAQs

I have a new puppy/kitten. What should I know about vaccinations?
Vaccinations in small animals serve the same purpose as they do in humans; to help avoid catching deadly diseases. We strongly recommend having your pet vaccinated at 8, 12, and 16 weeks old to complete the full puppy/kitten booster series. This helps prevent common, but deadly, contagious diseases such as Parvovirus, Leptospirosis, Rabies, and Feline Calicivirus.
When can I let my puppy go outside?
It is of great importance that you keep your puppy inside until the entire booster series is complete. Avoid high-traffic, public areas with your puppy as these are the places that the aforementioned diseases attack from the most. If you have a private yard with no access to unfamiliar/stray animals, you’re encouraged to use your own judgement.
When should my adult pet get vaccinated?
For adult pets, most vaccines should be given yearly. Some rabies vaccines can be given every 3 years, based on the age of your pet and how long it’s been since their most recent rabies vaccination.

What vaccines does my pet need in Philadelphia, PA?

Core vaccines include rabies and distemper. Additional vaccines may be recommended based on lifestyle, such as Bordetella or Lyme disease.
